Jeff was born in Santa Barbara, CA. He left home for George Washington University in D.C. Though he had a positive experience at GW, Jeff left and ended up attending 3 different schools in his first 3 semesters of college. After switching majors from Business to Music to Art, he landed on a BA in History with an emphasis on the Middle East from Westmont College. No, he didn’t quadruple major – just couldn’t make up his mind.
After graduating Jeff began substitute teaching and leading gathered worship for the “contemporary service” at First Presbyterian Church in Santa Barbara. Jeff was welcomed into the PCOM world when Chris Pritchett asked him to lead worship through music for a High School snowboard trip at June Mountain. From there he became more and more connected with the church as he interned with the Junior High program, directed the High School program for an interim period, then was hired to lead the congregation that would become the Awake service. Jeff is the husband of Stephanie Given, a strong, intelligent, gracious, encouraging, loving, awesome lady. She has a Masters Degree in Education, as well as her G.A.T.E. certification and an Administrative credential. She’s the coolest.
